Got them in February, reluctant to have them though but my teeth are very misaligned so I had little choice. I'm having them for 2 years- they're just normal traintracks. I had 4 teeth out before having the brace fitted which was awful.

I could eat most of my normal stuff within a week, with a little bit more time and pain however. That got better and now I seem to forget I have them in when I eat. After 3 weeks however, 2 of the top teeth started to really ache with cold water- which I didn't have before. The pain was very sharp and sudden, sometimes I would get it when I opened my mouth biking home from school in the cold- warm water usually cured it. The dentist said to rub sensitive toothpaste on, which kind of helped. I've noticed yesterday that a smaller tooth, which looks a bit smaller/worn away compared to the others has started hurting when brushing it or putting any pressure on it by biting etc. I've tried the Sensitive toothpaste and it hasn't worked.

Is this also brace related or something else?

Could be, could be that as the braces moved your other teeth around they have started to put pressure on that one too, making it hurt.

I sympathise though, I had 2 different types of brace, a functional one and then a fixed one (for 2 different problems!) and they were both horrible! However, they are worth the pain, so stick with it :good:

Sensitivity to temperatures can be the metal from the braces. Your teeth are probably moving a little and if your gums feel swollen it probably isn't as bad as it feels. It'll get better soon I'm sure. I know I couldn't eat ice cream or drink ice water when I had mine because the metal would get cold and make my teeth hurt real bad.
