Hi all

I have a problem with hanging a skimmer on the outside of this tank and can not really see any other solutions at the moment, the tank is 72" x 18" x 18" and has a 3" brace all around the inside of the tank, my question is; can i remove the end one, its only silicone holding it on? What effect would this have on the tank?

Here is the troublesome brace.

All views and comments are greatly recieved on this one, its a brand new tank and i do not want things going horribly wrong here, thanks :good:

You can't remove it but you can move it, just slice through the silicon with a sharp blade and re silicon it a bit further on so you have enough space for your skimmer.

Without the brace the tank is likely to bow which could cause it to burst.

So it would be ok to gently take it off and silicone it about 4 or 5 inches to the right?

thanks

Mmmm, Im not so sure - that brace is there to prevent the end pane from flexing, moving it away from the end would disable that function - glass and silicon cost money - its there for a reason

No worries now, i do not have to remove the brace after all, i managed to get the skimmer to fit with a piece of extra tube through the small hole in the corner of the tank.

Thanks for your help :good:
