Bowls and Tanks

hi,
I noticed on another thread where you guys put your own ideas of how to make a tank, that someone used like a vase from walmart. I thought that was neat and went to our WM. They had them in the craft section as well as in the kitchen section, but I found them too narrow on the bottom. Way more tall than wide. Is that still alright?
I also saw this cube like glass thing, it was a cube with measurements 16 by 16 by 16. I don't know how many galls can fit in that, could someone tell me if that's too small or not? It would look really nice.

Oh SRC, it was in cm, my bad. It fits a gallon, what you think is that too small?
