Hi All

I bought a pair of Bolivian Rams last year but unfortunatley they were both female. I bought another Bolivian Ram this week, hoping for a male, but when I got him/her home he/she is similar but different to the other Bolivian's. What do you think? Maybe he's just young and hasn't coloured up yet, but the other 2 don't have red eyes.

I'm unsure wether the lack of replies mean, ofcourse it's a Bolivian Ram or we haven't got a clue. Some advice would be great.

Thanks for the reassurance. He's just in a quarrantine talk at the mo. I have gravel in my big tank. Should I have sand instead?

yeah bolivian rams are sand sifters, sand isnt 100% necessary but i'd recommend it because you'll see some quirky behaviour

the fish in the first post looks far more like a blue ram than a bolivian ram

Its not a blue ram, looks bolivian, young too

That is not a blue ram, not even similar in my eyes, you can tell its a bolivian by the facial shape, very rounded compared to the pointed face on blue rams. :good:

it has red coloured eyes and faint luminescent blue markings on its head both characteristics of blue rams

what makes u guys think its a bolivian ram? facial shape is so similar in these species i wouldnt have thought it a distinguishing feature
