A few days ago, my LPS got a huge shipment of bettas in. They have to have at least 40 on the shelves. I went yesterday and looked at all of them carefully, and today I made my purchase.

They are living in separate 1 gallon tanks. I already had one set up before I bought the bettas because I had planned on only getting one. I couldn't choose between the two, so I decided to buy both of them and another tank. The girl who bagged my fish made sure I was putting them in separate tanks before she let me buy them. I thought that was very kool of her, and that is the first time I have ever heard a pet store employee ask a question like that. I was pleased she had.

Anyway, on with the pics!

This is Rodchester:

Thanks, endilliteracy! For a long while before this new shipment, all they had were 4 very pathetic looking pure red bettas. Not too attractive, IMO.

Here is my other betta. He is nameless ATM, but he is still pretty! The pics really don't do him justice. It took me forever to get these pics :S

Does anyone have any tips on getting the most of your betta's color/finnage in a pic?

A pic of my beta

Actually I bought it for my little sister to put in my tank. She had a betta that we had in a small 1/2 gallon bowl with no heater/filter and we had him for about 2 years. Then she decided to clean the bowl and she didn't know she couldn't put regular tap water in there and she did and he died the next day. So my mom took her to go pick out another one and she asked if he could go in my tank so he would have more room so I let her. A few weeks later he got sucked up in the filter because I had the new filter hooked up wrong. I felt bad and didn't want to tell her I killed her new betta...so I went down to the LFS and bought her a new one. I tried to get one that looked like hers but they only had a selection of like 5 bettas. So I picked out one that looked black and red in his cup he was in. When I got him home, he has greenish-yellow scales on black skin then a bright red and black tail. I had to tell her I accidentally killed her betta and she wasn't that sad. :*)

Oh my! Sounds like you used to have bad luck with bettas.
I had a span where I couldn't keep bettas for more than a day for some reason. I decided I would never touch another betta again, but after a year of studying them, I couldn't resist.

Your betta is cute, by the way! I have never seen a betta irl that had black on it.

:D Yea. I picked him because he resembled my little sister's fish the most and her two favorite colors are red and black.
