Bought an 18 gallon

I was at the LFS yesterday and they had a 18gallon that was the same shape on the top as a 10gallon. I went ahead and bought it for $35. Right now I have a whisper 10 that doesn't even reach 1/2 way down, so for the moment I have one of those little cartridge filters running off a air pump down low too. Which pump should I switch too? Right now I have 7 adult gups, 2 corries, 11 one month fry, and a snail. I love this new tank, but its tall! I want something that filters the heck out of it!!!

This doesn't really help you out any, but I just bought a 30 gallon and a filter that was for up to 35 gallons at it only comes down half way too!! Is that bad?? I never really thought about it until now. Maybe I should get a different one.... :/

you could try puting some rigid tubing on the bottom and making it go lower... and put something over it then it goes lower. maybe theres a different intake tube that goes lower that you can buy i dont know but in the world we live in if i think something up its already out on the market... maybe were being spyed on 8P

I have an 18 tall like you and I just have a Regent 15-20 power filter that hangs on the back of the tank. The tube only goes down about half way but it works fine.

Gosh, you have alot of fish!!! I think I'll get a bigger filter and add some tubing to extend it lower, or see if there's one with a long intake. It just seems like if it was filtered from the bottom it would be better. With a filter on the back and a 10inch bubble stone along the back it keeps it siring where nothing really settles without being filtered. I'm looking for optimal filtration :D
