Just before xmas I went to go get some more plants and that for the tank as the fish had destroyed the rest, and seen some of the most random fish ever!!

I found these:

Some of the info I have found say its a tetra, whereas others say its something else...And I cant seem to find the right info on here about them for sexing, ideal layouts, food, etc for the tank

Can anyone give me some info on these please

thankyou

Its a Blind Cave Tetra - Ideally need to be kept in groups like other tetras, they get reasonably large for a tetra and are quite active so a reasonably big tank is a good idea. Decor just the same as others/similar fish but try and avoid sharp rocks and/or wood.

well I have a large plastic plant, a large coral type fake, a log, and a few large plants in there...So its well planted, done this for the other fish I have

As for the tank, its a large 70g (UK) and as said, their in a group of 3...Cost me £10 or so for the 3 of them

Their fantastic creatures! And although they do bump into my angels at times, more so when they go ape at feeding time, its still been a very peaceful tank...The guy at the shop said that the only problems he has heard of is if there is any fish with flowing fins, which I dont have since I lost my male betta ages ago

Thanks for the info, I did look but I wasnt typing in the right info of the fish on here to get the right bits, I even tried the latin name and got no luck

i just read your comment wills which i totally agree with but can't help but wonder how they avoid rocks in a cave? lol made me laugh.
these are quite attractive fish, if you don't mind a lack of eyes. as mentioned they do get quite large for a tetra but not overly big, and they will eat just like any other tetra, when one of the senses is taken away i.e. the eyes, the other senses grow stronger, so in turn the blind cave tetra may not be able to see food but will smell/taste food in the water a lot quicker than your average neon tetra.
nice fish, but i would avoid buying fish before you know what they are in the future.

I had the minimum info required, but I just wanted to make sure mainly that the info I had was correct more than anything...I just prefer to get the info off of here rather than going on what some guy on the web says, or the shop workers

Just mainly wanted to make sure I was doing it correct...which is seems I am as I have had no trouble with getting them to eat, or any problems from my other fish

bit like bats, even if you add another rock after they will avoid it....

Yeah I actually saw this on Animal Park of all places - they have them in a display at longleat for some reason.

But yeah they use their lateral line to guide them selves around, a lot of fish use this more than their eyes I think I know my plec is just so blind.
