So, I had asked to get zebra loaches for my tank and since I was away a friend of mine picked up the order. Now it turns out they are botia robusta! It is a group of 7 for a 46 gallon tank with no other bottom dwellers. The other stocking is: cherry barbs, angel fish, congo tetras, otocinclus and bolivian rams.

Current temperature is said at 24 degrees. Can anybody tell me something more about this fish and whether it will do fine with my other fish?

thanks in advance!

Did you mean sinibotia robusta?

Thing that stands out on their profile is their temp requirements (20-23.8C) and they are not considered to be peaceful loaches. Tankmates need to be quick moving and give as good as they get.

Sounds like you either need to take them back, or setup a different tank for them, if you are sure they are not you planned fish ;)

They will be fine in your tank while young but as they get older they can get quite feisty towards each other and tankmates, I have seen these appear in quite a few shops lately and they are sold as community fish which like already said is the case when young but not older fish.

Out of your list the only thing I would leave in with them are the congo tets, bigger barbs and danios make good tankmates.

I am no longer sure whether it is this one, since the stripes are bifurcating at the top and not at the bottom...

Try a google image search for syncrossus and see if any of those match your fish.

Is there any chance you can get a photo?
