Botia Loach

blueberry botia loach.thats what the tank and the reciept said so unfortunatly that's all i know.

Hmmm, I've never seen one just try to look it up as much as you can. If there any loach though I'm sure its gonna be hardy.

Botia modesta 8-10inch is common in home aquaria, unconfirmed reports of 12 inch in the wild and some captive specimens

a blueberry botia is most likely a dyed Y. modesta. It's too bad they dye them, as they have a really nice natural blue color

They reach about 8-10"

we read on the internet about the dying after we got him.we were very dissapointed because it said it could shorten their life span.we hope that thats' not the case because we really enjoy watching him.so far so good though as he is very active.

A stunning picture of modesta in the wild. Yasuhikotakia morleti in the background.

Thank you Nonn, thank you Dutch.

ours looks like the one in back. we recently noticed little white spots on him. not very many though. could this be from the dye?

If your's looks just like the one in the back then it is not dyed but natural, the back being the dark colored, red-finned fish. All of the fish in the picture are of natural colors, the photo was taken in a river in Thailand. These fish naturally have some wide color variations. I would guess the white spots are ich or something similiar, unfortunately.

any suggestions? i'm sure my lfs wouldn't have any idea what i should do and i'd like to save the little guy if i can.
