Borneo Sucker? Anyone Heard Of These?

Yes, I keep several species of hillstream sucker loaches.

The fish shown on the picture appears to be a Beaufortia, this is a Chinese species, not Borneo. "Borneo Sucker" comes from Gastros' who are indeed from Borneo, but are different.

The most important requirements are:
1. Lower temperature (68-75)
2. Lots of current
3. Lots of O2
Beaufortia's are relatevely hardy species (for suckers), but the requirements above are a must if you want it to stay alive more than a few months.

With hillstreams, it is also always best to try to pick up rather than send them through the mail.

There are several members here that keep them, but as Mike says, they do really require special housing. They don't live long in a regular tropical tank. For a small group of unassuming fish, they certainly carry a wealth of common names.
