I can't believe how much I love these little fish!

Nannacara anomala. Comes from the northern coastal regions of Surinam.

they're Nannacara taenia. The flash + displaying for the female (smaller, yellow/black) really brings out the colors in the male. so much of the info I've read refer to these guys as little brown fish, which they are, normally, but there's a LOT of subtle color on them. They happen to live directly next to my computer, so i spend plenty of hours a day staring at them

It's type of dwarf cichlid.

in a bit of a transitional phase as far as the tanks go, but at the moments they're with galaxy rasboars, gertrude's rainbows, some amano shrimp, a female platy, and a female limia perugiae. have also lived peacefully with peacock gudgeons, but the female got in fights with the badis badis pair so they don't live together anymore. They ignored the killifish (aphyosemion striatum).

Just thought I'd point out that GENERALLY, they really are just little brown fish. You won't see those colors without extra light (flashlight/flash/etc.), unless you sit next to the tank staring at them -lol-
