hey my senegalus use to swim all over the tank and was fairly active, now he jst hangs in one corner and doesnt really come out. Has he gone nocturnal??

The water fine, i dnt test it bt do water changes once or twice a week. I added a SA puffer bt he was acting different before he arrived. I do think hes eating but only when the lights are of because the foods gone. I also turn the lights on and hes eating it.
He may of just become more reclusive and nocturnal, he looks fine!!

Puffer = bad idea. A lot of times puffers (of any sort) will bully tankmates into hunger strikes. I'd set up a new tank for the puffer, or get rid of it (or alternatley the bichir). Usually when senegals stop being active, something's wrong, so I'd check your water, at least for ammonia.

No he is active in one corner of the tank though and seems more active at night. Like when i wake up in the morning i can see him swimming about. The puffer doesnt bother the bichir in anyway and this happend few weeks before.
Im sure the bichir is fine, he does eat and he does swim.

Like someone has already said, test your water. I do not and do not plan on keeping birchirs, nor know anything much about them. However, I do know that you should test your water. If you don't have a testkit, take it down to your lfs, who should test it for you.

I agree, puffer = bad idea, set it up in its own tank, it will be much happier.

Just one question, how odes the puffer act? He will be one of the first to tell you your water is wrong, and even if you don't know, you could describe it, and I will try and tell you.

I have a sunday job at a lfs so i might, but im sure my water is fine i jst did a 25% water change. The bichir is fine now anyways, acting as he use to. The puffer just swims about a lot. Whem im in the room he goes up to the front and swims across the tank to. Hes eating well, both are.
