Hi

I have the following stock and was wondering if two Bolvarian Rams would fit in.

11 Lemon Tetras
2 Female Dwarf Gouramis
4 Neons
5 Red Wagtail Platy's
1 Female BN Pleco
1 Mickey Mouse Platy
2 Harlequin Rasboras
6 Peppered Cories

Tank size is 165l planted.
Water params PH 7.2, Amonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 40ish, KH 13, Temp 26

One last question, is it ok to have two B Rams of the same sex ?

With two being the same sex yes they are fine IMO. I have two of the same sex and they don't bother each other at all. Very peaceful fish IMO :good:

Thanks for your reply SchottayB - Funnily enough, I was just reading your 'Murder in the Tank' thread!

I only found out about the Bolivian Rams a few weeks ago and immediately fell in love with them - they seem to smile :)

Now to find out if I can fit a couple in. I was thinking of re-homing some of my left overs (harlequins and Mickey mouse platy) but was then going to up my neons by 4.

Sorry to hijack thread! I was looking to get some BR's in a while and when talking to the chap in my LFS he said that were usually sold as a pair (m&F). I recently got a m&f dwarf gourami and had to return the female as she was being bullied (fin damaged etc) by the male so after SchottayB comments about having 2 of the same sex then maybe that's the way to go?

no worries - my LFS seem to only stock males and agreed with SB - infact they went as far as saying that they would be less aggressive as B Rams will get aggressive when breeding. Since I'm not interested in breeding this would be fine.

I also asked about the DG's and he seemed to think they would be fine.

Good, I'll keep an eye on this thread and maybe you can let us know how your's get on if/when you get them.

Yes i'll let you know - just hope I'm not over stocking. I think this will bring it close to the limit though.

bolivian rams are much better in larger groups but they are pretty chilled for cichlids. getting 2 would be a risk that 1 would be bullied, personally i would get 4.
