I have recently just brought 3 Bolivian Rams.

The lfs have advised me that I have at least 1 female and 1 male but were unsure of the 3rd.

How do I tell the sex of the bolivian ram?

Do I need to add more BR or can 3 be kept as a safe number?

Hello mate, great fish :) Have a little read of this, http://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/ram-cichlid/34600-sexing-bolivian-rams.html hope it helps.

3 will be fine, the 3rd fish will simply be outcast if you get a pairing, but not in the sense that it will need to pack its bags and move down the other end of the tank.

on the plus side, if you don't get a pairing you could get a threesome :hyper:

i have 3 bolivian rams, and didn't have any problems at all :) 2 of them chase eachother, but the last one just kinda swims solo, so they'll be fine :)
