Hi All, I wonder if anyone can help i bought a piece of bogwood and soaked it for a week in a bucket then put it in the tank, it made the water so brown so i took it out and boiled it, a suggestion i found on this site, but it still made the water very brown is this normal and will the water clear ?
thanks

Hi. It won't harm the fish and will clear, eventually with water changes. Adding Carbon to the filter will help clear it also. Though remember Carbon will also remove other stuff like treatments and fertilizers from the water.

It's actaully what should happen with new pieces of drift(bog)wood. If the brown water is really bothering you, you should keep boiling the piece of wood. The more boiling, the more tannins will be released (the stuff that makes the water brown)
