I recently changed the decor on my tank and took out 2 pieces of bogwood, I left them to dry and put them in a plastic bag to use in a new tank when I get it but when I looked the other day there is a little bit of green mould on and some white mould.

Any tips on cleaning them before re-using them, can I scrub them in salt water?

How do I rinse them etc after using salt with them?

Cheers guys.

big mick,

I would be inclined to pull 'em out of the bag . I rescued a large lump of mopani out of a bucket that had been standing a week, and it too was covered in mould.

Left to dry for a few hours, if you want to, then scrubbed under hot tap water, without the use of any salt or chemicals, it will be fine. I don't think that salt will help your cause, if you know what I mean.

My fish are all still digging, eating and squabbling. There were no ill effects for my tank. Hell, the plecs spent the next two days hoovering it.....

Cheers sub, I have taken it out the bag but Id heard a few people talking about using salt but I was worried that would contaminate the tank without proper rinsing but if I can just scrub it in hot water that makes life much easier.

Thanks again.
