Hi,
ITs not happed to me yet but if it does what do i do?

I have heard that bog wood stains the color of ur water so what do u suggest i do if that happens?

Thanks

you can prevent this by boilng the wood for at least 20 mins then leaving in soak overnight, then soak in hot water for the next 24hrs.

To cure your tank of tannins after not doing the above, or even if you have a stubbons piece that refuses to be leeched. the only way is 20% water changes every day untill its cleared.
The only thing tannin does is raises the ph a bit and of course dis-colours the water so you can't see the fish.

Actually danio2004, tannins lower the ph and you can see the fish just fine.

I happen to like the look of 'stained' water. It's really not that bad. My South American tank loves it! :p

I herd, it happens, but yet, i just threw mine in the tank, then filled the tank with water, and HAVE NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER :D.

If you get the problem, another solution is activated carbon. However, you may need to replace it pretty often.

P.T.
