Hi,

I currently have 4 boesmani rainbows in my community tank. My question is what is the best way to get them to color up. They are all about 3 inches long. One of them is showing the traditional half and half coloration of blue and orange but the others seem to have a tinge of green but mainly grey and dull.

Is there something I should know. Do only the males show the colors?

They have been in the tank for about 3 months now and they are getting bigger but the colors are not changing. I have noticed on pictures of members tanks they have really strong colors.

Sounds like you have 1 male and 2 females. At 3 inches, they do still have some growing to do and the male should continue to color up.

Also, dark substrates are a big help and natural light (from the side) seems to help bring out their colors.
