just a few questions, how long do they take to grow as i'm planning on moving them into my 80g. what's the best veg. to feed them?

:good:

BN's don't grow very fast, probably because they're a small species. :) We got ours about a month (or more) ago and he's grown slightly but not much. Mine eats algae wafers and courgette, and sometimes chows on the veg nuggets I put in for the Royal.

I asked about BN growth on another board and was told that one person on there bought their BN at 1" and it took a year to get to 3". However, mine seems to be growing better than that *lol*. We bought him at about 1.5" and he's nearly 2" now.

Peas are fine. :good:

When small, they tend to grow in spurts. When I ship them out at 1.25-2 inches, most recipients tell me they put on a growth spurt fairly fast. They also love green beans- I use store bought canned green beans with no added salt. Rinse them, split them open at the seam and remove the seeds and just drop em in. When they get bigger, also feed blood worms occasionally as well.

cheers for your help, i gave them a few peas i had left over after feeding the rest of my fish.

should i say 6months till they are 2"?

:good:

Mine eat just about any green veg, algae wafers and flakes that fall to the bottom.

My fry have taken three months to go from about 10 or 12mm to about 25mm. I got my adults when they were only about 30mm and they took a good year and a bit to get to maturity from then. They are now about 1.5-2 years old I guess and they are 60mm, 80mm and 85mm (the two bigger ones are still growing but the little one isn't seeming to grow anymore).

I guess 6 months till they are 2" would be about right.

cheers they are maybe 3cm just over so i will keep feeding them up.

I bought a BN about 5 or 6 weeks ago and he was probably just under an inch when I got him, no bristles and hardly any markings. Since then he has grown to about 1.5" and has loads of bristles and lots of markings! He seems to be growing pretty fast, ever week there's more bristles on his nose. He has half a small algae wafer every day, is afraid of cucumber (we need to cut it down much smaller I think) and is going to try his first blood worm today. I'm also growing mine on to move into the bigger tank eventually but as he's got to stand up to a 5" parrot fish I might just be buying him his own tank eventually lol.

ok well i'm hoping they get growing as i have other fish in need of the tank in about a month.
