I have a breeding trio of bns in my 130L tank and have a severe snail problem. I also have a pair of small clown loaches in my 70L that i intended to move into my 130L to resolve the snail issue. Will they attack and eat my baby bns - or will everything be ok?

You have exactly same probs as me, have 120 litre tank with a snail invasion, also with 1 male/2 female bristlenoses with hundreds of babies.

Thinking of buying some Clown loach today, so would you let us know how goes!!

clown loaches will become to big have a lookat the loach's theres laods of them and they pretty much all love snails.

Well i've put the smaller of the 2 loaches in the tank, so I will keep you posted as to whether the baby bns survive or not, and whether i see a decrease of the snail population!

To late purchased 3 Clowns yesterday, but was advised would need bigger tank than existing 3' eventually.

Sounds like expensive third tank coming!!

But hey the snail population seems to be working this morning, does it really work that quick!!

I put a couple of jewels in my snail tank and within a day they wiped out my entire snail population! I wasn't expecting that... now I need some more snails. My sister has clowns with young Bn's but they are about 2.5cm so maybe too big to become lunch.

if you are planning on upgrading and keeping the clown loaches you need another few clown loaches as theyre supposed to be in groups. yeh the next tank your looking at 6' tank

Interrnet been down all week, but all seems to be going well with loach/bn combi.

Still have lots of all different size bns, think male is guarding yet another batch, so will see how go.s with them.

Loaches dont seem to be eating baby bns but have so many its hard to tell!!, but they seem to be doing well, just eating flake, bloodworm and cucumber

Clownm Loaches are great fish and would look ace in a big shoal

saying that I remember keeping some larger clowns a few years ago with a shoal of congo tetras and my congos started being killed with a cut to the throat and one day I saw a clown do that... s fast as you like going straight for the thoat and anyone who has seen a clown peck atpotatoe or cucumber would know they have a hard mouth. Probably just a rogue fish but I would be careful of the baby BN's

about the snail problem, i put 1 zebra loach into my tank that was full of snails. 2 days later they are all gone. Completely!
