bnose died

My bristlenose died today and i was wondering how he died. I noticed he wasnt looking himself because his stomach was bulging and looked like it was about to explode. I'm not sure if its been like this for a while because he never comes out (at least when im around) so i could never really check him. A few hours before i found him dead. He was also very active today which was unusual. I've got some pictures of him before and after his death so if u dont like dead fish i suggest u dont look at these.

Any help would be great thanks. I was actually going to post the first two pics to ask what was wrong with him but i just never got a chance to do so.

EDIT: I'm not able to test the water at the moment because its 12:30 and i dont want to pee off my parents too much.

I recently had the same thing happen to my two new bristle nose that i bought. I am no expert but i thought it might be dropsy.
Mine looked identical to your pics though I cant say I know for sure i really think that is what happened. I simpathize. I am sorry about your fish and i know how sad I was when mine died.

yeah its a bummer. plus thats $30 down the drain . i thought it might of been dropsy too because of the swollen belly but i wasn't sure.

depending on how long you'ved had it go back to th store with the body and ask them for a refund/replacment.

lol ive heard a lot of you guys say that but stores around here just dont do it. the only store ive known to have done it has closed down

that is EXACTLY the way my female b.nose looked when she died Christmas day. Digi camera broke so cant post piccies. I didn't get much response when I posted so lets hope this thread gets more attention from some knowledgable peeps.

I didnt know dropsy caused a swollen belly....

Yeah it happened to my platy when it got dropsy. Swollen belly plus sticking out scales is really unpleasant looking. I ended up euthanising it because it looked so horrible.

there were no sticking out scales on my bnose, just the large belly. I assumed she was pregnant as she was a female but I've never seen one pregnant so I'm not sure...

Everyone else seems to be doing so well, I dont like misteries like this

well she was not pregnant becouse bn and catfish in general are egg layers. but when i lost my fish i posted in the emergency section and i was told it was internal parasites or dropsy.
but hopefully someone else with experence could lend their opinon.

catfish dont have scales thats why. so it could of still been dropsy

It looks likely to be internal parisites.
