I've had my bristlenose since I started keeping tropicals, so about six years or so. Well, he always used to come out and eat when I got him, them I got a pictus and after a while realized the pictus was attacking him and ended up rehoming the pictus, but the BN stopped coming out to eat unless all the lights were off and no one was around.

Then he was with guppies and cories for a long time, until last year, when I got a convict. Well a couple of months ago the convict started attacking him all the time at his spot in the driftwood, so I'm rehoming the con. I also had to completely tear apart my tank and the BN ended up in a small tank with a female betta while I redid the tank, and while he was in there he didn't have any hiding spaces anymore. After I put him back in the old tank (with sand instead of gravel) he no longer hid, and spent a lot of time actually out and about in the tank, which I loved because I could actually enjoy him again.

Now, however, he had a spot on the sand that he likes that's kinda got a 'roof' of driftwood over it, and he's begun attacking the bettas when they get close to it, and my hand as well when I was rearranging some plants. I don't know whats going on with him, unless this is how they act when they are ready to breed? I've been thinking about getting dwarf cories or some ADFs but I don't want him hurting them. What should I do?
