Ey everyone just found my Ghost Knife Fish dead. right next to the pleco... twitching away, which is wierd. Had him for about 3 days seems to have been doing well, feeding on bloodworms no problems. Anyway i came into my room not long ago and saw him dead near the pleco, and thaught maybe the pleco got him? I had the pleco in my other tank with barbs and he absolutley hated them and chased them off all the time even if they just came close to him. But no casulties. So i guess hes a lil agro, if not fed properly. I saw him flaring his gill spines yesterday and I wanted to ask if they are Venomous? Could he have Spiked the Ghost knife? It just seems really wierd that the G.K. died so randomly. Dont have a test kit at the momment so i cant check the parameters, but it is an established tank, been running for about 5 months now, added some rummy nose in there a week a go, which are doing fine, and some rasboras aswell which are doing fine.

any help would be good.

No their not, but was very tempting to say yes at first ;)

What would of happened is the pleco was going to eat the ghost knife, this is very nateral for then to do this.
Flareing of the gills is normal he's just defending his space.

You right to think about testing your water.

Sounds like from adding some fish last week, u may of had a ammonia spike which GK are sensitive to. Get ammonia, nitrites and nitrate test kits and do 3-4 25% water changes over the next week is what i would do.

yikes... yeah that could well be it... yeah i didnt really do much research on the G.K. because my girlfriend baught him to my house as a surprise gift, and only really mentioned that he's a fussy eater. Damn. Its still really strange... I guess ill have to do a check before I can rule out ammonia/nitrite poisoning.
if anyone has anything else to share it would be great.

cheers.
