Bn Pleco - Sex/age

Is there a way of telling how old a BN plec is?

My one is now around an inch in size and has 2 very small type whiskers on either side of it's mouth that I noticed today.

How old would you reckon a Plec will be, for you to find out it's sex?

Hi Beth, I'm relatively new to bns myself, I have 3 at the mo 2 females at 2 inch and one poss male at just over an inch, think they are around 3 months old when they hit an inch, the two whiskers you can see on each corner of the mouth are present in all bns they also have barbs on their cheeks but these look like a collection of spikes and appear when the plecs feel threatened, I would say by the time they reach the 2 inch mark if they are showing no bristles at all then they are most likely female, males often start to show bristles by as little as an inch long but can sometimes take longer.
