I had it a week and it did't show any signs really. It did hide away alot more before it died though, and spent alot of time between my filter and the glass just staying there. I found it upside down at the bottom of the tank.

It was only 1 inch long and as I say I only had it a week.
Just bad luck?

All other fish seem completely fine so I highly doubt it's my water.

Also, my cory has started hovering more (rather than just siwwing at the bottom) and his barbels appear to have gotten smaller. Is this normal?

looking at your stocking list, i would suspect the Barbs may have something to do with it, but I may be wrong.

I looked at various Barbs for my tanks but decided against them after some advice from my mate at the local LFS who has kept Tropical fish for over 20 years. He had some in the past that used to bother Corys and Plecs, sniping at them and nipping their dorsals.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't the barbs. I haven't had any problems with them attacking the corys or kuhlis (not that they could catch the kuhlis), i saw no marks of injury and i saw it happily staying on the glass at the front or on the stones at the front without being bothered by them. I haven't seen the barbs attack anything except each other, and then it's only pecking order fights.

Any other ideas guys?

I'll probably get another next weekend.
