While I was doing a water change yesterday I was surprised to see a bunch of little plecos in one of my tanks. There are three BNs in the tank, a mature female, a mature male, and another younger one I'm not sure about.

I didn't think they would ever get around to spawning, so I removed the tube that was to be a cave to use it elsewhere. I'm not sure where he put the eggs but it must either have been under a rather small piece of wood or between the filter and the glass. If they were under the slanted piece of rock, I'm sure I would have noticed them at feeding time.

Baby BNs are so cute!

Here's the mother and the young BN with the first fry I spotted:

This is the father with a bunch of his young. I couldn't get a good picture from that side of the tank because there is another tank next to it but you can see his reflection pretty well.

Congrats! I am working on getting my albino's to spawn! I had a male and 2 females seperated for a while. No luck. So I am putting the male and 2 females in a different tank with 4 other males, I am also looking into getting some specialized caves for them. It should be smooth sailing from there!

Thanks for your comments. :)

Yes, one good thing about BNs is that their eggs are huge. Even when they are just hatched, the fry are big enough that none of the fish in my tank (corys and swordtails)will bother them. If there were eggs or fry in there a week ago, I would have seen them when I did a water change so they can't be older than that.

I'll have to figure out somewhere to move them to soon because as they start to grow they will add too much bioload to a tank that was already well stocked. I'm not looking forward to doing it because they are in a bottom tank and these little fellows can move fast. :D

Really? They look to be 2 weeks old. When mine first hatched and started exploring the tank, they were see through, and didn't much look like a pleco. It took them at least two weeks before they looked like yours do now. Yes, their eggs are HUGE.
