We got three tiny BN about a month ago and they are all doing fine in our 40G, growing nicely, keeping it clean, the normal thing.

I have noticed on this site a number of different types of "Bristlenose" catfish.

The ones we have are developing distinctly different coloration (although as they grow older, they may find a common colour).

Are there many different types of BN?

Do they inter-breed?

Thanks.

I have seen all kinds of bristlenose variations, from marble, to spotted to striped bristlenoses. I suspect most of it is caused by interbreeding or something.

Any pics?.

Ben

Bristlenose can change from almost white to almost black.
From what i have observed at day time mine go whitish, when i turn the light on in the morning they are very dark. There pattern also changes.
Altho there are different types.
