This is a little pleco my brother got from walmart for his tank about 2 weeks ago. It was under the name Asst. Pleco's I believe, but we were under the impression the particular one we got was a BN catfish as it looks identical to the albino BN I have in shape. If it's not a BN...uh oh.

Also, does the coloring look right? I've been treating the tank with Malachite Green/Formalin for Ich. I think the ammonia is high and the tank NEEDS a water change. I'm doing one tomorrow. He seems healthy, but he has a light splotch around his eyes and back. I think it's just pigmentation, but it showed up after I began treating and I know these types of fish aren't as tolerable to chemicals.

Last but not least, but more than anything because I don't feel like spamming this site with a ton of posts...Is this a molly or platy? It was labeled as a molly at petco some time ago. It's my brothers fish, so never thought much about it, but I saw some platy's that look just like this gal.

Its a female mollie.

Looks like a common plec to me, this is a BN below.

It's not a common but a juvenile BN, patches look to be stress marks but i wouldn't rule out the stress marks are appearing due to bad water quality, specially if there is traces of ammonia. That needs to be addressed becasue juvenile plecs and most other juvenile fish will just not tolerate it at all.

After looking more i agree, the mouth area is to sloped to be a common plec i think.

*phew* I really hope it is. If it's not a BN then I am going to be stressing over rehoming it and my 10 year old brother will be upset!

Yes, there has not been a single water change since I bought the pleco. The tank looks awful. Water change tomorrow morning! I wouldn't doubt that ammonia is high in the tank. Due to the ICH treatments though I was sorta unable to change the water.
