Was in Pet Smart tonight and they had several male and female bettas. I purchased a female because i have such a big compassionate heart and she was swimming around in probably less than an inch of water. She was not the prettiest but i just felt she deserved better. Now she is happily swiming around in a 55 gal tank and is looking very pretty now. But for the origial reason I posted, what is it that they put in betta water in the pet store that gives it that blue tint? just curious, sometimes it makes it very difficult to pick out a fish because you can't really determine the color and how it looks beacause of the blue water. just wondered if anyone knows.

I seriously dobut petsmart is so high class to do so, but there's a non-copper ich meds safe for all fish that turns the water the same dark blue as that. A bit darker really.

The water that fish are shipped in is turned blue from an additive that is often used. I forget what the additive is called. It sedates the fish so they don't get stressed, it could also contain meds as pn suggests.

I agree with this. It is probably methylene blue which is a tradtional fish med that would be used in this case as a precaution. It also increases oxygen for the fish.

I asked them at petsmart what it is
and the lady showed me this bottle of anti stress stuff, she said they dont sell it its just for store use...........its BLACK in the bottle so they must only put a drop in the water
