Hey,
i've recently bought a blue tree gorgonia , i've always liked the look of em and the price was right so i thought what the hell .....
so far i think it's doing ok i'm feeding it marine snow 3 times a week and have it in a good flowy place i'm just not too sure what it's normal behaviour is , should the polyps be out all of the time?, mine are out prolly about 70% of the time and it looks great when it is.
I've been struggling to find any real indepth info about them
Cheers

Sounds lovely, could we have a photo?

Most corals have a common lfs name but of course have a latin name, this often causes problems when trying to find info, try googling Acalycigorgia sea fan and see if this is what you have :good:

hello again thanks for the reply , i have already searched under the latin name and it's this type for sure
My link
most of the info i've found is the same needs good flow and feeding , idealy i want to find someone that has had one and can tell me if mine is normal you could say i'm slightly paranoid about it lol (if i had a pound for every min if spent looking at it i'd be a millionaire) i'll upload some pics later when the kids are out with mom.
cheers

sounds lovely,

just make sure you keep it very well fed. Some gorgs are photosynthetic, however its usually teh bright coloured ones that arent.

oooo other common name is blueberry gorgonian I believe, I am also interested in one; almost picked one up last week! I've always thought feeding should be more often than what you are doing, although I could be mistaken. We've had two at work that i've seen, neither was open 100% of the time. The first was rarely ever open, the second was open probably around 60-70% of the time.

This coral is very difficult to keep alive. I have tried gorgonians and they ARE tough. What size tank is this in? SH

Hello again, Thanks for the replies ..... i've decided to up the feeds to every other day but less at a time and just watch to see how it goes, the coral it's self is looking better than ever, i've been keeping a log on when it opens and it seems to open at the same times every day and then close for a few hours.
I've got some pics of it but had hours of confusion trying to resize them using paint last night (when i did half the pic disappeared?) only to then notice that i had to upload them via a link but when i try using photobucket it doesn't work stating a network error with my head done in i gave up but today's another day so hopefully i'll get them on later tonight when the lil un's are in bed.
Cheers
