I was thinking about possibly getting blue Ramshorn snails to go in a 55 gallon aquarium, so far the stocking plan is:
1 Golden Gourami
6 Guppies (4 females, 2 males)
6 Platies (4 females, 2 males again, different colors
)
5 Ghost/Glass catfish, or 6 Cory cats.
I have read that Gouramis will eat Ramshorns, so if I do get them do you think the Gourami will keep the snail population from exploding? Will it eat all of my snails? Or will one Gourami not be enough to keep them from becoming over-populated?
How big do Blue Ramshorns get? I've heard 1-1/2", I've heard bigger than 2", and smaller than an inch! I have never had any kind of fish or aquatic animal other than a betta, unless you include the gold fish I had when I was about 6 years old!
Probably going to try my luck with live plants in this tank, will they eat them? Or will they only eat the dead leaves, and extra fish food?
