If I were to leave a blue moonlight bulb on over night (everynight) would it cause an algae bloom? Would the algae benefit from the light in that spectrum range?

i have heard it will. i have recently added a blue and have noticed an increase in algae, could just be a coincidence though.

i dont have mine on over night though, i have 3 marine white and one blue on suring the day and none at night

Any light can cause algae problems if left on too long, but you should be fine providing they're not too powerful.

Thanks for the replies.

Reason I was considering leaving it on - is that the tank is in my daughters room, and it could have been used as a 'night light' if it wouldn't have caused problems.
