Christmas idea for a friend, are they really that cool and where do you find one????

Thank you in advance

well Airwolf, Whats your friend got in his tank if anything?
Also I would'nt bye the fish before you give it to him so you dont have to hold it.
(just some possible help)

I have a moon light on my catfish tank, I love it. It's a small 1"x1" box that plugs in and it has a teeny tiny light bulb in it. It makes the tank look awesome at night and the ripple of the water makes it reflect on the ceiling. I think it's a great gift idea

By the way....I got mine on eBay for half the price it was at the lfs, you may want to look there, there's still enough time before Christmas :D

Maybe I should try that on my divided tank. Does it act like a blacklight?

no, but it is a very clarifying light. My cats look their greenest when it's on
it's hard to describe, but I think it would work well on the tank you mentioned

EDIT~ it's almost like a pen light, but a little brighter, it's supposed to replicate the moon and it's awesome for nocturnal fish :D

Oh, so it should only be used for nocturnals? I don't want it if it might stress my fish.

I don't think it would bother the bettas at all, it's kind of like a night light  , I really want them for all of my big tanks (I'd be broke if I bought them for all my bettas, they'll just have to go without  )

Okay, cool. If it looks cool, you'll get the credit for the lighting. 8)

you can buy a small ac adapter and a white LED and then tape it all together it will cost about $10 and last a life time even if you run it 24/7

Great idea Handy Dan  , that would be waaay cheaper than the moon light was/is  (somebody somewhere is a millionaire for that idea)

It amaizes me that this thread gets more attention than my thread on imprisoned salmon.

Moon lights look great, I often sit and watch my 120gal when it is on, many of my fish are semi nocturnal so it is great to see them being so active.

David :fish:

Where could I order one, and which product are you commenting on??? If a DIY project let me know which bulb works and I can take it from there.

thanks
