hello. as of today, my corydora got tragically killed by my panda barb, i have recently been looking into another scavenger/bottom feeder. i just remember that i had a Procambarus alleni, that did very well in a 30g tank. it will be kept with some 3 danios, 2 swordtails, 2 angels, 1 glass catfish, 2 panda barbs, and one small snail. could it work?

would bamboo shrimp bottom feed/ scavenge and be less agressive? and would orange crayfish be the same as blue crayfish?

Bamboo shrimp and other filter shrimp like giant african filter shrimp are not at all aggressive. They get food by sitting in the flow of the water and picking out microscopic food.....so you need a mature 6 month+ tank or be prepared to feed them crushed flake. They will scavenge for food but its often a sign that they're not getting enough food from the water which they should be.

I think bamboo can get to up to 11cm and african shrimp up to 15cm, there or there abouts anyway!

I think THIS THREAD is an eye opener and it is extremely recent. :)

Eye opener? or full if incorrect, assumption's about crayfish.

many people are successful at keeping cray and fish together. those who aren't blame the crayfish. typical

remember P Allani, are not tropical, they are temperate. so none of your fish are able to be kept with that cray. that's ignoring the bad tempered nature of, many, North American crayfish. but lets face it. if you were kept in a home, way, too hot. you may well get grumpy too.

all in all, Cray+fish community's. are an art, not an automatic fact. honestly it needs keepers with experience, or those who have that experience available.
if you really want to try. buy an Australian Redclaw. (fully tropical). keep it 7-9 months on its own. then add it to a "mature" community. it is, always, a risk. only the keeper can say if that risk, is worth it.
