awww i love blue lobbies! mine died yesterday :( i'll replace her as soon as i can!

mine moulted once a month till she ws adult size.. or so we thought... and then she went through a whole egg bearing cycle and i expected her to moult again as soon as she'd taken care of all the eggs, and waited and waited.. eventually she moulted last week and she was huuuge! at least 7 inches not including the tenticle bits!

all the research i've done on these would lead me to believe that she was due to moult every 6 months or so after reaching adult length.

all the best with him, fascinating creatures, we miss ours loads already ! :(

i love them too...ace to watch and when i watch t.v. he comes out of his little cave to watch it too =]
i hope you can find another soon
if you live in the u.k. there are some for sale on ebay
and by the way, thanks for the info

ok you say blue lobster? if so you should have a Australian Redclaw [size=-1]Cherax quadricarinatus. if that is the case, it will moult between 3 weeks for young crays, slowley extending the time as they age. the cray will reach adult size, when the moult interval gets to about 12 months, and sometimes longer. it will not stop growing, but the size change will be much less. i have seen Redclaw Cray at over 12 inches, nose to tail!!!!! thats a cray that is close to 16 inches tail to claw

you say the cray is 6 inches including antena. the antena are roughly the same size as the cray, nose to tail. my guess would be the cray is 3 inches long. so roughly every 3 weeks to a month would be expected. however, the age of a cray is in no way connected to its size. that is dependent on feeding and, well the cray, some are just small. as far as i know there is no real way to determin the age of a cray.

as for getting hold of them, that really shouldn't be a problem, my branch of PetCity, sells both normal and blue morph redclaws for £5.99. i do know a guy who will have some ready to move out in a short while! i think he is charging £10 for a pair, not sure if he will post or, if so the cost.
