Hi,

I recently ordered a few shrimps and crabs for my tank. Which arrived today.
It was mainly to try and solve my aiptasia problem.

I found the peppermint shrimps quickly hiding in my LR (to be expected as I heard they only really come out at night).

But weirdly enough I found one of my blue knuckle hermit crabs munching up a small aiptasia which was stuck on the side inlet grail of one of my powerheads.
Are they known to do this?

Also I have no idea how the heck it got 1 1/2 foot up onto the powerhead, but are my crabs shrimps able to escape the tank. I have a couple of gaps where the wires/pipes go into the tank. Maybe better if I cover these over??

I`ve not herd of them escaping as i`m pretty sure they are 100% aquatic.

and as for the aptasia munching crap consider it a bonus

my blue knuckle is a real mountaineer, always trying to climb up into the overflow, never made it out though

never seen it go for an aptasia

Dardanus hermit crabs are one of aiptasia's nemeses. It comes as no surprise to me that other medium-sized hermit crabs eat them as well.
