Hello everyone.

I have some fake plants in my Aquarium(The dried reef things) and recently noticed a bluey green webbing on them, I posted it in Betta section and was told it's Blue Green Algae. Weird thing is it's only on them plants non of the others.

Need to know afew things if anyone could help it would be great!

1) How harmful is it to my Betta?
2) How do I get rid of it?
3) If I remove the fake plants its on will that sort it?
4) Would a strip down and boil wash of the Aquarium & everything in the Aquarium help?

I really don't want my poor PK Male Betta to be hurt by this stuff.

Thanks!

Dont boil anything it will destroy all you benificial bacteria.

Do a 3 day black out. If it is a small tank just put a towl over it. Betta will be ok for 3 days. and dont feed during the 3 days.

I used the antibacterial med Maracyn - knocked the damn stuff right on it's nut.

A three day black out works well, do a 50% water change clean the filter and completely black out the tank, no light can get it, or it wont work. Then leave it for three days, dont feed the fish or anything no peeking either no light at all. After 3 days do another 50% water change and clean the filter and substrate. That should work, but might need a 2nd treatment if its a tough outbreak.

Maracyn will work and works well but you have to get it from the USA as you cant get antibiotics in the UK without prescription. Dose 1 tablet per 100lt.

hopefully it's sorted now, it was nearly 5 years ago.
