Hi peeps

We have a tank with 2 blue crayfish (lobsters) and nothing else living in there.

The lobsters are fine and dandy but we have noticed 100s of tiny, and I mean tiny, lice-like creatures swimming and jumping around in there.

Do lobsters carry ticks? or lice? And if so, are they harmful and do we need to treat?

Thanks :hyper:

congrats dad/mum! you will need to move the littluns soon as dad will munch them up. get yourself down to your lfs and work out if he will take them. if not check your pm's

Lucky? Lucky???? :hyper:

Mind - it all makes sense - the two crayfish do not get on at all - fight all the time - guess they must be married!!!

Goodness - (at the risk of being kicked out the forum for saying the expletive I eally would like!) - what am I going to do????????? PM's are okay by the way.

 :shifty: :shout:

Baby crayfish!!!

Lots more surfing to do tonight then - got to find out what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!

One option might be to call your local LFS and ask if they're interested in taking some off your hands. It would certainly be best if they have a good home to go to. Alternatively, advertise on this board! I'm sure there must be someone who'd like a little crayfish for their tank.

Though you might be tempted just to release them into the wild, don't -- the UK has some strict laws about Crayfish, mainly because a crayfish species where it doesn't belong can ruin a local ecosystem.

Hope that's some help... :/

ARE you MAD???? that is the very reason we are so restricted now.

Blue Lobster Australian Redclaw Crayfish fetch from £5 up, i've heard of £85. so all may not be lost. if your brude has any colour morphs, they can go for £5-£12 at 1 and a 1/2 inches.

Sorry, I phrased that badly. What I meant to say was: Do not release them into the wild. It's illegal and it will damage local ecosystems.
Re-reading that, it needs editing for clarification. :S

- Done. Remind me to pay be careful what I'm talking about in future. :p
