I had a package of frozen bloodworms that were the wrong brand for my oscar (he's really picky, and won't even touch them,) so I decided to give them to my female betta tank. I fed one tiny cube, and they all seemed to like it. Well last night I looked in the tank before I turned the light off and one of my females was dead!!! The most colourful one, too!! :-(
She died in full colour, her eyes weren't fogged over, and her belly was HUGE. I could see the red bloodworms through her skin. Did she eat herself to death??
THat's the only thing I can think of, since my water quality is excellent and I just did a water change three days ago :/

Bettas will eat and eat and eat till they feel more bloated then we do on a Christmas feast and they will well....pop...

Im sorry to hear that your very pretty betta passed away :byebye: She was very nice colored

sorry for you loss. :rip: pretty little girl. You always have to be careful of overfeeding. I feed my girls blood worms in small increments. It's easier to controll that way. It sucks when you have to learn things the hard way. I have learned many lessons that way. :( I guess experience is the best teacher.

The cube I fed them was about half the size of the bloodworm cubes I'm used to buying, so I figured that between 5 females, I wouldn't have been overfeeding... I guess I was wrong, though. I think some of the other girls didn't eat them, and the one that died hogged them all to herself.

Hmm. interesting. Maybe she over eating and choke! Sorry to hear that.
