I got 2 blood red dwarf gouramis about 2 weeks ago, (29 gallon tank 7zebra danios and 2 mollies) once they settled in they have been fine but now 1 is dying. He doesnt have any signs of illness or damage. the water is ph 8.0 nitrAte 10 nitrIte 0 Amonia 0 and temp runs at 25.5. Any ideas whats wrong? If he does die is the 1 gourami on his own alright or are they best in pairs /groups etc. Regular water changes have been completed and chemical added to get rid of chlorine. I have had the tank 2 months and was naughty and did a fiss cycle but at no point in the 2 months have my readings changed. Any ideas why my gourami is dying???????? I have been using tropical flake food and all the fish are eating it

Matt

Any signs of desease on the body of the fish, what does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet, is the fish bloated, also if you used the fish to cycle the tank, it takes it's toll on the fish and there immune system shuts down, plus that type of fish are very sensitive to water quality.

That's not a good sign then they can breath heavily when hey are dying, also heavy breathing can be due to poor water quality and parasites, no signs of flicking and rubbing, are the gill red and inflamed.

Can you issolate the sick fish as to be honest it not sounding to good, and if he's heavy breathing he will need to be in a shallower tank, do you have an airstone, just keep an eye on the fish for flicking and rubbing.

no airstone, he has just died, ive took him out now, so that leaves 1 gourami, will he be alright on his own or are they best in pairs / group??

Sorry for your loss, R.I.P. ask in chat chat sorry i can't help you never kept gouramis, they will help you over there.sorry.
