My blood parrot has been really working on digging deep pits in the sand, and recently the oscar has joined a long helping with digging the pits deeper. My oscar usually never used to dig before. I know they are diggers but I've never seen him dig before.

My blood parrot also looks like his genitalia is sticking out? His cheek area and under belly have turned a bright rosey pink. They both seem overly energetic swimming alongside each other.

They also have been open mouth fighting occasionally today.

Is there anything wrong?

The water temperature was raised a little as it was starting to get cold again at night time and I didn't want the tank's temperature to drop at night.

Also, my parrot was sold as a "black and white parrot" but when I got him home he seemed to turn more of a yellow-ish color and is yellow and black. There are aqua green and blue shimmery dots on his tail fin and his eyes have a hint of blue in them. Is this odd for a parrot?

Jellybean or blood? I'm assuming Blood since it's yellow. If it's a male Blood parrot them he is more than likely sterile. The shimmery color on fins and eyes is fine. The fact that it's there means he is fairly happy. Most people don't notice it. :D

I do not know if this is a possible match. If so for it to work the Blood parrot would have to be female since most of the males are sterile.

Hope this helps. :)

Well I wasn't worried about the eggs actually hatching if they did ever lay eggs. I was just wondering if it was even possible for them to try to breed.

I am not sure if my blood parrot is a male or female, nor do I know if my oscar is a male or female. The shimmery dots on his tail are really bright and very noticeable. They're so pretty. :D

They could breed. Though it's a very, very, very, very, very, very slim chance. It's like try to slam shut a revolving door!

Oh yeah, they can try to breed. My midas-bloodparrot hybrid tries to breed with my oscar all the time, bless her heart. They can never agree on a place though, the oscar wants to breed in the substrate and the midas wants to breed on a rock
Anyway, no chance of eggs hatching, so might as well let them have their fun :D. It's lucky in a sense, as it means they have paired off and will probably make better tankmates.

 I am pretty sure my oscar and bp have decided on the same place. My oscar even helps dig the pit depper hahaha. It's really precious.

That's pretty cool, too bad it's not a jack dempsey or something that could fertilize the eggs..

the breeding tube is what sticks out when they are about to lay eggs, or have just laid eggs.
