Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm desperate to find a cure for my Blood Parrot Cichlids.
I've been taking care of my Blood Parrots for almost two years now (in a 30 gallon tank), and two days ago, two of them has passed away. (The smaller ones). Before they died, I noticed they were lethargic, heavily breathing and was always at the surface. They also seem to be paler than usual. When they died, I noticed they had something in their gills. Something white and somewhat worm-like. Could it be a parasite? I quickly did a 50% water change after that.
And right now, the larger blood parrots are experiencing the same symptoms! They lost their appetite and they seem lethargic. When I got a chance to peek in their gills they also had a white "thing" inside it.
Could it be gill flukes, or something else?
If so, what should I do?
I attached a picture of one of my blood parrots. (Sorry if it wasn't clear enough.)
