well i have 2 ottos, a betta, and 2 AFD's in a 5 gallon. i checked all the parameters, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 20 nitrate. everything seems ok. they've all been living happily for over a week.

but today, one of the ottos seems much rounder and fatter, kinda bloated, and is just laying on the bottom below the submursible heater. water temp is 75-80 F. everything seems fine but this otto just isn't acting normal. could it be pregnant?

please help! :/

its wierd, it sometimes darts around VERY fast and others )mostly) is very stilll and just lies on heater or the bottom. thanks to both of you for the replies, i'll see how he/she is tomorrow morning. hopefully its just pregnant!

THis happens as ottos adjust to their environment. SOmetimes all is well after a day or two and other times it seems they dont make it. Ottos are very hard fish to get acclimated to a tank sometimes it takes weeks and even months before they are establisshed and happy. Hope all works out for your fish. :)
