Bloated or pregnant

6 weeks ago our gourami started bloating and has gotten bigger over the last month. Our other fish died that was her size same time as her bloating. We have other gourami and angels and other fish. Shes got a red mark at the back of her tail and a red mark underneath her which has recently come up on her. We wouldn't know what to do if she was pregnant it's our first tank or what to do if it's anything bad with her. Any advice would be appreciative thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum

The fish isn't full of eggs. It has an internal problem.
If the fish got fatter over a month or so it has a tumour or cyst.
If the fish got fat overnight, then it has an internal bacterial infection.
There's no cure for either situation so the best option is to euthanise the fish.

Hi thank you for the reply. It's gotten bigger over the last 7 weeks. It's eating as normal, swimming as normal too. Just massive compared to the rest. If it dies in the tank will it infext the other fish?

Would be a shame to see it go after the years we've had it but I think you might be right. We just kept hoping they were eggs instead so we didn't have to get rid of it
