Hello!
Sorry if this question has been asked many times before but I have only just discovered this site and need some help. I have a bloated axolotl. He has not eaten for a few days and is not passing anything so I think he is constipated. I have followed all the guidelines re feeding, husbandry etc and changed him off gravel but my question is how do I get the bloat/constipation to go away? Is there anything I can add to the water or feed specifically?
Many thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about it not eating for a few days as they can go for weeks or even months without food. However, if it is bloated then there is a problem. You can try doing a water change each day for a week and see if that helps. Alternatively increasing the temperature a couple of degrees might help.
Some people add Epsom salts (1 heaped tablespoon per 20litres of tank water) to help fish that are bloated and it might work on an axolotl.
If the axo is still eating then you could try feeding it some vegetable matter. Peas are often used but pumpkin and zucchini can be fed as well.
