I have an Oscar that is getting over(i think a fungal infection). He lost both eyes and i am wondering if he will starve because the lack of sight. Will he still be able to hunt( i usually feed him live bait) or will i have to feed him flakes or pellets. I dont want him to starve over a long time and wish put him to rest quickly if he cant make it though this. Also i have an African Cichlid that wasnt affected at all by the fungus. I want to if he will end up killing the oscar if he can no longer see.

Thanks for any info that you can give.

SAD AL

That really is sad. I would imagine that he could still hunt. You'll just have to watch closely and see. I wouldn't put it past the African to attack though :/

My oscar has only one eye (received from lfs that way). Often I used to drop the food on his blind side. He would smell the blood worms, go nuts, but never would go to them until he saw it. My oscar is a very visual hunter. He sees when I'm about to put freeze dried brine shrimp into his tank and will even jump out and nip the bottle on occassion. But he's very, very visual. He has to see everything before he reacts. I would put him down if it was my oscar that went blind. Hope all turns out well.
