i got a birdsnest coral yesterday and today I was looking at it and I noticed that some of the tips are lighter than the rest of the branches. they appear as though they are turning white. is this coral "bleaching" as they call it? or could it just be adjusting to its move and new place? i have but it in a better water flow area and lower in the tank this evening. any ideas on what it maybe?

Acroporas and other hard corals grow the tips of their branches with calcium before encrusting them with their own flesh. This usually means the tips of the branches are white or a lighter colour whilst the flesh catches up withthe new growth. It could of course be bleaching but if it is then you will know sooner rather than later because when an :/ acro bleaches it can go entirely white in a matter of 24 hours.

okay well then I feel better. the coral looks exactly the same this morning. no more whitening nor ill effects that i can see. so hopefully like you said its just growing. good deal.
