Hi,
My Bubble Tip Anemone has recently gotten smaller than its original self and its lost its colour slightly..not enough to say that its bleached, but it may well be. It has been quiet hot at the moment, so the tank temperature has risen too, but i have lowered it back to its normal 25 celcius.
Ill try and get a pic up soon, so you can be the judge of whether it is bleached or not, but in the mean time, what can I do to improve it.
Ive tested my water and all levels are as should be. Ive had it for 6 months and its been fine up and till now, it had a nice colour and it was massive throughout the day.
THe lights havent changed or anything either. The only thing i have thought of is to keep the temp. down and try and feed it, which i do 3 times a week; however it isnt as big as usual and the tentacles arent as extended as usual, making feeding harder.

Cheers

EDIT: It has lost its colour a lil but its not white like an actual bleeched anemone would, if you follow lol

Do you run any carbon? Just to be safe, might be worth changing it :). Most of our invertebrate organisms don't tolerate high temps well. Sounds like your nem may just need some cool water, consistant chemistry/feedings and a little time to rebound

Cool :) I run various Seachem media such as PhosGuard etc, i'll change them when i do my water change :)
I usually feed my tanks live plankton 3 times a week, but ive run out and the store havent been able to get any for a couple of weeks....could this be something to do with it as the zooplankton wont have had their food for a couple of weeks now...?

MAYBE, but nems don't really eat much phyto or zooplankton

Sorry Ski,
what i meant to say was maybe the zooxanthellae algae on the nem were used to having vast quantaties of plankton in the water, that when no more was being added, they reacted in tis way...?

Well anyway, i bought my plankton on sunday and its improving :D Ive also increased the feeding too and all's looking well! Still not to its normal colour, but we're getting there

In my experince with ym anemone it does this sometimes but the next day pop he is huge again. guy at lfs said they do this sometimes and they just have strange behaviors. I have a rose BTA

I forgot to mention my didnt change colors it just sucked itself into a ball and grew big the next day.

I forgot to mention my didnt change colors it just sucked itself into a ball and grew big the next day. But the size thing happened a couple times.
