Blackwash?

Mayo my white-ish opaque betta has some black marks on his anal fins and tail. Is it genetic? It's light black and is randomly placed on his tail and anal fins.

I'm wondering if he might just have a touch of finrot starting?

It's just blackwash and yes,it's genetic.

Oh alright thanks. I've had Mayo for about 3-4 months or so and I'm sure it's not finrot (i hope not ). If i were to breed him, would i have to get a clean opaque female in order to clean up the blackwash?

Yes, get a really clean girlie to minimize the "black wash". However, my guess is it'll take more then one generation to clean it up.
