Am lookin at ideas for re'scapin my tank and ive come across this guys malawi tank pic he posted on another forum HERE... I really like how he's 'blacked out' his background and tank sides, and got quite bright light hitting the centre front. But cant get my head round how he may have done it ??

Any ideas ??

metal halide is a type of lighting very bright indeed used in commercial factory's/building and fish tanks lol

you can get black vinyl my lfs does it (stuff signwriters use on vans etc). It's a self adhesive film all you do is spray the glass with soapy water mix and peal the backing off the vinyl. Then float the vinyl on the glass, squeegee the film to get the water out then trim it with a sharp knife to shape

easier to do than than writing it tbh

just done my rio 180 in blue let me know and i will take some pics for ya

Edit. the make of the vinyl is.......... Neschen type "neschen vinyl" it google and your find it

Backs and, depending on setting, sides of my tanks get 2-3 coats of blackboard paint, on the outside of course.
